Celebrating Michael's remarkable journey with Bunji’s Launchpad Program

Michael joined Bunji’s Launchpad (SLES) Program when he graduated from High School at the end of 2023. Since joining, he has achieved significant milestones.
Michael quickly integrated into the Launchpad Program by making new friends and identifying a career interest in hospitality. Launchpad group facilitator Cassie helped Michael navigate this career path by outlining step one – getting a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA). Michael enrolled in a course and successfully obtained his RSA qualification. This certification opened up more opportunities for Michael and laid the foundation for practical experience.
Michael implemented his newly acquired knowledge and skills from his RSA course into real-life work experience of serving alcohol at a local multicultural community facility. This hands-on experience not only honed his abilities but also broadened his understanding of diverse customer interactions.
Motivated to continue gaining work experience in hospitality, Michael secured a one-off work experience at Crazy Horse Coffee Co. in Fairy Meadow. His dedication and competence demonstrated during the shift led to weekly work experience sessions at the cafe, under the mentorship of owner Damien and his team. Michael has further advanced his skills by completing a barista workshop through Illawarra iTec.

Michael recently attended a workplace walkthrough with Bunji at the Novotel North Wollongong. This experience exposed Michael to the comprehensive operations of a large hotel, from customer service intricacies to behind-the-scenes operations like kitchen management and landscaping maintenance.
Michael’s positive attitude and dedication to self growth is amazing. He tackles challenges with a can-do spirit, quickly overcomes obstacles and continuously pushes the boundaries of his development. His journey with Launchpad shows how dedication, having the right support, and getting hands-on experience can kickstart a fulfilling career.
